(dis)integration

(dis)integration, co-produced by FACT/SF and CounterPulse, is an immersive and magically unsettling contemporary dance about exotic people, racial ambiguity, assimilation, and the Romani Diaspora. (dis)integration addresses persistent stereotypes of ‘Gypsies’, unpacks Slender-White’s experience as a fourth generation Romani-American, and was instigated by Michelle Obama’s casual use of the ethnic slur, ‘gypped’, during the 2014 Working Families Summit.

(dis)integration has additionally received significant support from the Kenneth Rainin Foundation, San Francisco Arts Commission, Trust for Mutual Understanding, Movement Research, Dancers’ Group, and FACT/SF’s individual donors.
