FROM THE DIRECTOR

FACT/SF is at a thrilling inflection point in our artistic development and organizational growth. Our works continue to be critically acclaimed and internationally recognized. Our staff capacity has grown significantly, and our new strategic plan (available here) has given us even greater clarity of vision and purpose. We’re thriving despite the pandemic, investing in Bay Area artists and audiences, leading the field with our programs and initiatives, and expanding our reach to artists from all over the country. FACT/SF is small, but our impact is broad and our future is bright. We continue to be human-centered and community oriented, and I can’t wait to see you on Friday.

~Charlie Slender-White, FACT/SF Artistic Director

Covid Policy

We require that all guests are vaccinated against Covid, and we highly encourage boosters.

As Covid continues to be a persistent and ever-shifting reality, we will be requiring and providing on-site rapid testing for all guests. Masks are then optional once inside the Green Room. In addition, we strongly encourage that guests test themselves earlier in the day on April 29, to prevent positive tests on-site.

Guests with positive test results will not be permitted to enter the gala. In this event, ticket holders will also be offered a refund. FACT/SF will livestream the gala performance to guests who are unable to attend in-person due to Covid.

We appreciate your understanding and participation as we work to decrease risk for our community members.

date & time

April 29, 2022, 6pm-10pm

location

Green Room, San Francisco War Memorial Veterans Building
401 Van Ness Ave (across from City Hall)
San Francisco, CA

suggested attire

The gala is black tie optional. From the FACT/SF perspective, that means wearing something special that you feel comfortable in. Maybe the gala is an opportunity to try out a bold new look, or maybe it’s a night to get reacquainted with one of your favorite ensembles from yesteryear. We imagine guests at the gala will be in ball gowns, tuxedos, prom dresses, suits, cocktail dresses, tulle skirts, jumpsuits, palazzo pants, top hats, tiaras, and more.

Order of Events

  • Doors open at 6pm.

  • Please aim to arrive between 6pm and 6:30pm. Note that we may not be able to admit late arrivals after 7pm.

  • Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our staff outside the building on Van Ness Ave, and ushered through the building, upstairs to the Green Room.

  • At the door to the Green Room, we will provide you with a rapid antigen Covid test. FACT/SF dancers will perform excerpts while you wait for your results.

  • After testing negative (and weather permitting), you will cross through the Green Room to the covered outdoor Loge for drinks and appetizers. The Loge looks out onto Van Ness Avenue and City Hall, and photographer Robbie Sweeny will be available to take your photo.

  • FACT/SF’s main performance will take place on the Loge around 7pm.

  • Around 7:30pm, guests will enter the Green Room and take their seats for dinner. Dinner is family style, and will be punctuated by short speeches and an opportunity to support FACT/SF’s future.

  • Following dinner, we will have dessert, an opportunity to mingle and celebrate, and a short dance party. We will begin to wrap up the gala around 9:30pm

  • Guests will be invited to join us for a post-gala nightcap at a nearby location.
