winter dance salon
In 2025, FACT/SF will launch the inaugural year of its Winter Dance Salon. The Salon is an informal, low-tech, low-stakes opportunity for Bay Area choreographers to share works-in-progress. The Winter Dance Salon happens in conjunction with the Winter Dance Lab.
This year’s Salon will take place at the Joe Goode Annex on February 8th, 2025 at 7PM. This year, the Salon will feature 9 works in progress by Hannah Westbrook, Quinn Dior, KT Nelson, Xochipilli Dance Company, ZOEmotion Dance Collective, Ciarra D’Onofrio, Kim Ip, Emily Hansel, and FACT/SF.
As of February 4th, 2025, the Winter Dance Salon is sold out.
Curation for next year’s Salon will begin this Fall as part of our 2026 Fieldwork Curation process. Information about last year’s application process can be found here.
We prioritize curating choreographers who:
Identify as BIPOC and/or LGBTQ+
Are based in the Bay Area
Have a clear and timely reason for participating in the Salon
purpose
A main goal of the Winter Dance Salon is to provide an opportunity for Bay Area choreographers to share work, see work, and meet new colleagues. We hope that the Salon will function both as a platform for choreographers to try out ideas as well as a gathering to strengthen bonds between working artists in the Bay. We feel it’s important that the Salon serve as a possible entry point for early career artists and those who do not yet have a relationship with FACT/SF, as well as a space where past Fieldwork artists and more established choreographers can continue their creative practices.

All Fieldwork applicants who complete the process will receive a $30 honorarium to recognize the time and labor involved in preparing their application. For more information, please see the Fieldwork page.
