2026 fieldwork opportunities
FACT/SF IS NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS. THE INFORMATION BELOW IS FOR REFERENCE ONLY.
In 2026, FACT/SF Fieldwork will provide resources and opportunities for contemporary dance artists via an open application process. Up to 50 artists will be paid to apply for up to three of the following:
funding to present a work via Production Support Grants,
paid opportunities to share work at the FACT/SF Summer Dance Festival,
curation into the FACT/SF Winter Dance Salon,
scholarships or work study opportunities for the FACT/SF Summer Dance Lab, and/or
scholarships or work study opportunities for the FACT/SF Winter Dance Lab.
The application will be open until October 17th, 2025 at 11:59PM PT OR until we have received 50 applications, whichever happens first.
In past cycles, we have reached our application cap several days before the deadline. For this reason, we encourage applicants to submit their materials as soon as possible.
As of 6:50pm on September 27, we have received 50 applications.

More details of the process can be found here: Fieldwork Application Information. Once you have read through the guidelines and compiled the necessary information, applications will be accepted via this Google form. Applicants will then schedule a 30-minute meeting with the Fieldwork Curatorial Panel. All artists who complete the process, including submitted application and meeting, will receive a $30 honorarium in recognition of their time and labor.
Please note that we will accept a maximum of 50 applications, and that we will close the application form once capacity has been reached.

EVALUATION & CURATORIAL PANEL
The panelists will utilize this rubric in their evaluations.
Applications will be reviewed by a curatorial panel of 9 people, 2 of whom will be present at each applicant’s meeting.

Keanu Forrest Brady (he/they) is a San Francisco-based dance artist working at the intersection of contemporary improvisation, hip-hop and post-modern movement forms. Keanu received his Bachelors of Fine Arts in Modern Dance at the University of Utah. Over the years, he has worked closely as a performer and creative collaborator with various San Francisco based companies and arts nonprofits such as LEVYdancy (2017-2021), AXIS dance company, ODC, Kinetech, and Sarah Shelton-Mann, alongside other local choreographers and drag performers. Within the United States, he has worked on stage and screen with Carl Flink, Eric Handman, Satu Hummasti and Scotty Hardwig, among others. His performance work has allowed him to tour within the United States and Internationally. He is currently a company member of FACT/SF since 2018, as well as serving on the board of directors as Dancer Liaison from 2022-2024. Rahila Coats is a movement artist based in the Midwest, raised in Mni Sota Makoce. She has performed new works and repertoire by Karen Charles, Drew Lewis (House of DOV), Carl Flink, Michelle A. Gibson, Kevin Iega Jeff, Andrea Miller, Robert Moses (Robert Moses KIN), Leslie Parker, Uri Sands, Chris Schlicting, Erin Kilmurray, Anna Martine Whitehead, and Tali Wertheim- Agranionik and more in and outside the US dance community. Her works have been shown through the support of Chicago DanceWorks, Synapse Arts, Thodos Dance Company, Fever Dream Dance Collective, and Jerusalem Jazz Festival. In 2021 she received Chicago’s 3Art’s Make A Wave Award along with 120 Chicago based artists. She toured nationally with Red Clay Dance Company for three seasons and currently performs and composes music with music collective Family Junket.
Erin Coyne is a San Francisco-based dancer, choreographer, and educator. Originally from the Chicago area, Erin received dual degrees in Dance & Education, as well as, a Masters in Education from the University of Minnesota. She is currently a company member of FACT/SF and has had the pleasure of working with Paufve Dance, Lizz Roman & Dancers, and Kinetech Arts, among others. Erin has also presented her own work at various venues around the Bay Area, including her most recent production, the dance + social event, Flight.
Jon Kim is a dance artist from Southern California. He performed with Repertory Dance Theatre for five seasons and previously worked with SALT Contemporary Dance, SJDanceCo, and Lineage Dance Company, among others. His choreographic and teaching philosophy examines choice-making, community, softness, listening, and the queer experience.
LizAnne Roman Roberts fell in love with dance at age four after seeing Giselle on TV in her hometown Tulsa, Oklahoma. Honored to have been working in the profession of her dreams for over twenty years, LizAnne began her career with Tulsa Ballet while finishing high school and earning a BFA at the University of Oklahoma. She has worked with various artists throughout the Bay Area, including collaborating with FACT/SF since 2012. LizAnne has appeared internationally in Avignon and Claremont-Ferrand, France; Belgrade, Serbia; and Sofia, Bulgaria as well as across the United States. LizAnne is the mother of two, and lives in Oakland, CA. She is also a certified Pilates instructor.
River Bermudez Sanders (they/them) is a multi-disciplinary Bay Area theatre artist and arts administrator with a BFA in Musical Theatre from Emerson College. They have worked as a director, choreographer, actor, stage manager, and more with companies around the Bay Area including Crowded Fire, San Francisco Playhouse, SFBATCO, Cutting Ball, Ray of Light, Palo Alto Players, Children’s Fairy Land, the Oakland Theatre Project, SPARC, Townhall Theatre, NCTC, and Theatre Rhinoceros. They are the author of an award-winning thesis that explores the ways Latiné theatre artists advocate for equity in the theatre industry. They are deeply invested in creating art that openly challenges white supremacy culture in content and process. Chafin Seymour is originally from Brooklyn, NY. He has had the pleasure to perform with Sage Ni’Ja Whitson/The NWA Project and Anneke Hansen Dance among others. As a choreographer, under seymour::dancecollective, Chafin’s work has been presented throughout NYC and nationally at venues such as Center for Performance Research (CPR), Triskelion Arts, Dixon Place, Livestream Public, Gibney Dance, The Wild Project, New York Live Arts, Movement Research at Judson Church, ODC Theater, The Ohio Dance Festival and The American Dance Festival among many others. The collective works on a project-to-project basis with a rotating roster of curated artists. The collective’s most recent evening length production BRIAR premiered at the ODC Theater (SF) in Fall 2024. Chafin has taught contemporary forms at Gibney Dance in NYC since 2015 and at ODC San Francisco since 2023. He was an inaugural Ann & Weston Hicks Choreographic Fellow at Jacob’s Pillow in 2018 and was commissioned by The American Dance Festival and Limón Foundation to create ‘Suite Donuts’ for the Limón Dance Company in 2020. He has also created commissions for Modern American Dance Company (MADCO) in St. Louis, LINES Ballet Training Program (SF), and Fresno State University (CA) among others. He holds a BFA with Distinction in Dance from The Ohio State University and an MFA in Choreography from the University of Iowa. Currently Chafin resides in the Bay Area, CA and serves as an Assistant Professor of Contemporary Dance at San Jose State University.
Charlie Slender-White (he/him) is a queer, San Francisco-based contemporary dance artist of mixed European and Roma descent. He is an instigator, organizer, dad, husband, and the Artistic Director of FACT/SF. Charlie is one of 60 Countertechnique Teachers worldwide, and he has taught, performed, and made choreography across North America, Europe, Russia, and in Hong Kong and Australia. Slender-White founded FACT/SF in 2008, and is the lead designer of FACT/SF's Fieldwork programs.
Taja Will (they/them) is a non-binary, chronically ill, queer, indigenous Latine (Chilean) adoptee. They are a performer, choreographer, somatic therapist, consultant and Healing Justice practitioner based in Mni Sota Makoce. Taja’s approach integrates improvisation, somatic modalities, text and vocals in contemporary performance. Their aesthetic is one of spontaneity, bold choice making, sonic and kinetic partnership and the ability to move in relationship to risk and intimacy. Will’s artistic work explores visceral connections to current socio-cultural realities through a blend of ritual, dense multi-layered worldbuilding and everyday magic. Taja initiates solo projects and teaching ventures and is a recent recipient of the Jerome Hill Artist Fellowship, in the dance field. Will established a project-based collective, the Taja Will Ensemble, in 2015 and collaborates with local dance, music and design artists. Their work has been presented throughout the Twin Cities and across the United States including local performances at the Walker Art Center Choreographer’s Evening, the Red Eye Theater’s New Works 4 Weeks, and the Candy Box Dance Festival. They are a 2018 McKnight Choreography Fellow and NCCAkron alumni artist.
